Giants Season Takes Another Dark Turn With Gruesome Injury to Star Rookie

The New York Giants continue to be cursed in 2025 as one of the bright spots this season, rookie Cam Skattebo, suffered a gruesome season-ending injury.

In what is quickly becoming another lost season for Big Blue, Skattebo has been one of the shining lights of hope with fellow rookie Jaxson Dart. While he hasn’t put up monster numbers, the youngster has brought life to a run game that badly needed it and a livewire personality in the locker room.

The play that injured Giants RB Cam Skattebo was an illegal hip drop tackle from Eagles LB Zack Baun

Shockingly, there was no penalty…. 😳

Did the refs screw the Giants AGAIN?????

Unfortunately, his rookie season came to a terrible end in Week 8. Midway through the second quarter, Dart threw a second-down pass over the middle that was well defended by Eagles linebacker Zack Baun. Unfortunately, while trying to stop on a dime to catch the pass, Skattebo’s right foot seemingly got caught under him, and the weight of him and Baun falling backward to the ground twisted it in a nasty direction.

After the whistle blew and the play was over, the running back’s foot looked mangled and was turning in the wrong direction. It got an immediate reaction from his teammates as they yelled to the sidelines for immediate help for their badly hurt teammate.

Cam Skattebo stats: 98 carries, 398 rushing yards, 23 catches, 189 receiving yards, 6 total TDs

In a show of just how tough Skattebo is, he actually gestured to be helped up by a teammate, but they smartly told him to stay down and wait until the team doctors showed up. Unsurprisingly, the rookie needed to be carted off the field and actually got a respectful ovation from rival Philadelphia fans.

Cam Skattebo’s injury, which is sure to end his debut season, is a massive blow to both the Giants and Dart’s development. This is the second time this year that New York’s lost a star player on offense. Just a few weeks ago, Pro Bowl wide receiver Malik Nabers suffered a knee injury that required reconstructive surgery and ended his season.

The terrible news also comes a week after the team gave up 33 points in the fourth quarter of a 33-32 loss to the Broncos last week. Just more evidence of what seems like a cursed season for the New York Giants.
