Bottom line. The Giants have a wealth of defensive potential and a significantly improved quarterback situation. If their offensive line can find a way to improve upon last season’s poor performance, New York is a dark-horse playoff contender. If that unit doesn’t perform well, the offense could stagnate too often for them to win games.
Buy: Giants QB Jaxson Dart. Of course, Dart didn’t play exclusively against starters or against complex defenses tailored to stop him. His preseason prowess can be taken with a grain of salt. That doesn’t mean the 22-year-old’s comfort level in Brian Daboll’s offense wasn’t real, though. Dart may have some struggles when he gets on the field, but he genuinely looks like a player poised to pressure Russell Wilson throughout the season.
Sell: The Undefeated Giants. The Giants did undoubtedly look more efficient and capable than they did a year ago, but they also faced two teams that didn’t play their starting lineups and one that barely put its first team on the field. The fact that all of New York’s quarterbacks looked like NFL starters in the preseason is a sign that fans shouldn’t start purchasing playoff passes just yet.
“Just his attention to deal with everything,” Robinson said when asked what he’s learned most about Wilson during training camp. “Whenever it comes to routes, he wants to know that you’re gonna be in certain spots and he’s gonna let you know exactly what he needs out of you, which is definitely something I’ve felt like we needed as a whole team.
