Good morning, New York Giants fans!
“We talk about it a lot, being an 11-man operation, but it starts with the guys up front, the coaches are an extension of that, and then all the skill groups, making sure we’re all on the same page,” said assistant head coach/offensive coordinator Mike Kafka. “What we honed down this offseason was just making sure the language that we’re using in the huddle, the language that we’re using at the line of scrimmage, it all means something, so what is that telling the players and how to operate, how to execute their position and role. It’s been really good and I think you’re seeing it, the players are buying into it and they’re doing well.”
Giants: Rookie Jaxson Dart followed an impressive debut last Saturday with an even better performance against the Jets, completing 14 of 16 passes for 137 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions, and scoring on a QB sneak. Coach Brian Daboll reiterated that Russell Wilson remains the starter.
Cue the Jaxson Dart hype. The first-round pick was again impressive in preseason action, especially while leading consecutive touchdown drives to begin the second half. He completed 5 of 6 passes for 62 yards on the first drive, which was capped by a 20-yard touchdown pass to tight end Greg Dulcich. Dart then capped the next drive with a 1-yard TD run. The rookie finished 14-of-16 for 137 yards with a TD passing and another rushing. This came on the heels of an impressive debut against the Bills. Even though Russell Wilson led a touchdown drive to start the game, Dart is showing he might be ready to start sooner rather than later.
One Giant dilemma. Russell Wilson completed an 80-yard bomb that — if his receiver was Malik Nabers — would’ve gone for a score, but his next three drives ended with two punts and an interception. Jaxson Dart then led touchdown drives on two of his three series, finishing 14/16 for 137 yards and two touchdowns. It’s now feels like a question of when, not if, Dart starts in 2025.
