New York Giants headlines for Saturday
Good morning, New York Giants fans!
21. Malik Nabers. Can you remember who threw passes for the Giants in 2024? It didn’t really matter for Nabers, whose electricity at LSU translated to the pro stage to the tune of 109 catches and 1,209 yards. A sideline magician with home-run burst, he stands to benefit from Russell Wilson’s play-action deep shots as the face of Big Blue’s offense.
"I think the first thing that you want to pick out is that the leadership in the room will really help out everybody in the locker room and on the team," Tracy said on Friday during an appearance on Good Morning Football. "Obviously, you've got Russ, Mr. Unlimited. Then, you've got Jameis -- he's the one that has the personality. He can really connect with everybody on the football team. And then you've got Jaxson Dart, Mr. Cool Dude, coming in with the swagger, kind of that Italian vibe but he's not Italian. … Don't forget about (Tommy) DeVito.
"They bring a lot of different pieces that we need. I also think, again, with Russ, he brings that leadership to where he's more vocal, he's speaking up, he's letting people know where we're going, and everyone's on the same train. That's what we need as a football team."
What has been the most underrated move by your team? Signing cornerback Paulson Adebo. He’s not a household name but at least gives the Giants a proven player at the position. That’s something they didn’t have last season, and it backfired in the worst way. Thrust into the No. 1 cornerback role by default, 2023 first-round pick Deonte Banks had a mess of a season, allowing six touchdowns as the nearest defender, according to NFL Next Gen Stats. Adebo’s arrival allows Banks to fall back into a more realistic supporting role. And if that doesn’t work out, Cor’Dale Flott, who has started 23 games over the past three seasons, can step into the lineup. The Giants have a significantly better defensive backfield after the signing of Adebo and safety Jevon Holland. It’s going to be needed with the teams in this division loaded at wide receiver.
