New York Giants headlines for Thursday
Good morning, New York Giants fans!
He played 15 games for the Giants in his rookie season. That counts. It means he put down a foundation for his NFL development, and after a record-setting debut, he set a high standard for lofty expectations.
In a sense, though, Nabers has not truly experienced what it means to be a part of the area’s sports landscape when things are really cooking, when enthusiasm is rising and there is a palpable feeling of energy and excitement coursing through the fans and players alike.
3. EDGE Abdul Carter (Giants). Opposing offenses will not be able to double team Dexter Lawrence, Kayvon Thibodeaux, Brian Burns and Carter. Someone is going to get one-on-one opportunities to rush the passer. Carter’s entire draft profile was built on cat-like quickness and improving strength. If he produces to the extent his No. 3 overall selection suggests, it will be difficult to keep him off next year’s list.
3. New York Giants Arguably no team has done more in the NFL to strengthen its defensive line and pass rush over the past couple of seasons than the Giants. They drafted Kayvon Thibodeaux and Abdul Carter with top-five picks in 2022 and 2025, respectively, and also traded for former first-rounder Brian Burns.
The team's edge defender trio is complemented by perhaps the best nose tackle in the league, Dexter Lawrence. Although Lawrence’s 2024 season was cut short due to an injury, his 89.9 PFF overall grade still ranked third among interior defenders.
If Dart is starting and the Giants are well out of contention by October, expect this regime to start selling ownership on their future potential while dumping veterans and bringing more assets aboard.
As a result, the Giants have had one of the more youthful rosters in the NFL for quite some time. However, that trend may be changing a bit as their projected 2025 starters have an average age of 25.78 years old, which is 22nd (11th-oldest) in the NFL
