NY Giants: Which players are on the rise after the offseason program | The Record

Abdul Carter might be better than any of us thought. It’s scary to admit for a team that has embodied Murphy’s Law for a decade, but after watching this spring, I think the Giants and their fans should lean into it. He’s different.

That ability to finish is special, and Carter has it. Patterson went back to his days as an assistant coach in Denver to come up with the only other player he has coached in 24 seasons who had it this early: Elvis Dumervil, a two-time All-Pro for the Broncos and the Ravens. Giants outside linebackers coach Charlie Bullen said the way Carter uses his 6-foot-3, 252-pound frame reminds him of Haasan Reddick; with regard to a performance comparison, Bullen connected Carter with Chandler Jones, a two-time All Pro in his own right.

Neal’s situation seems to be setting up like wide receiver Jalin Hyatt’s last year. The Giants had an established veteran receiver in Darius Slayton, but they gave Hyatt every opportunity to win the starting job in training camp. When Hyatt failed, Slayton maintained the starting job.

Dan Salomone: Fiction – He has been more. As a Big Ten guy, I don't watch every game in the big, bad SEC. So, I had some catching up to do. I'm going "fiction" here just because I came into it with a blank slate and didn't know exactly what to expect. My first impression was "that's a Daboll guy." He has that fire to lay it all on the line, which endears him to his teammates. Now Dart gets to benefit from proven veterans and coaches who know a thing or two about putting together a plan to develop rookie quarterbacks.

Giants Mailbag: When will Jaxson Dart take over as the starting quarterback? | SNYtv.com

Dart does not have blow-you-away arm talent. It’s a good arm, not great. So there are things players like Wilson (who did have a very strong arm) or Darnold (a ridiculous athlete) did that Dart does not. The biggest difference between Dart and all of those other...
