New York Giants news for Tuesday

Myles Garrett wants out in Cleveland. Whatever the Browns do in response will factor into how this offseason plays out for the New York Giants. If Garrett is dealt, the Browns could just draft either Ward or Sanders with a reset toward the future. It’s also possible they take a longer term view at the position, which opens up possibilities at No. 2.
But without the perceived pressure to win now from Garrett, the Browns could go full blown rebuild in that spot and trade the pick. Then, the Giants would have to decide if they will send assets to Cleveland to swap spots - especially if they are concerned another team might trade up for a quarterback they may have in their sights. The Las Vegas Raiders could be one of those potential suitors.
3. New York Giants: QB Shedeur Sanders, Colorado. Sanders has a strong foundation as a passer, with fundamentally sound throwing mechanics that give him the tools to develop at the next level. However, his most impressive trait may be his ability to limit mistakes. Since moving to the FBS, he has produced a negatively graded throw on just 10.9% of his dropbacks, a 97th-percentile mark.
Per ESPN’s Pete Thamel, there has been a “building sentiment” from scouts and executives at the Senior Bowl this week that Ward “is likely” to be selected No. 1 overall.
While Sam Darnold is considered as the top quarterback option in free agency, there are three reasons why the New York Giants shouldn’t bid for his services: Darnold’s reliance on pressure-free situations makes the Giants a bad fit; investing in Darnold long-term provides high risk and low reward potential; and Shedeur Sanders/Cam Ward are less expensive options with higher ceilings.
