NFL Week 18 Preview: Schedule, storylines, matchups to watch | PFF

Matchup to watch: Cowboys WR George Pickens vs. Giants CB Cor’Dale Flott. A lot has changed in the NFL since the Cowboys and Giants met in Week 2, but what has stayed the same are the performances of Cowboys receiver George Pickens (86.0 grade; 9th) and Giants corner Cor’Dale Flott (66.9 grade; 40th). Pickens has had a career year in his first season in Dallas, while Flott has been one of the few bright spots on the Giants’ defense.

When the two faced off in Week 2, Pickens was targeted just twice on 12 snaps when covered by Flott, catching one pass for 14 yards. If Flott covers Pickens again in the final game of the season, expect him to do a standup job once more.

Mike Kafka Reflects on Growth as Giants Interim Head Coach | SI.com

“Absolutely. You’re learning something new every single day,” he said on Wednesday before the Giants’ practice. “I think if you have that kind of mindset, and that’s what we want to stress to our players. You certainly, as I thought about this role in general, you certainly have a plan, you certainly have thoughts on how you would handle certain situations, how you would handle certain players, how you would handle certain things throughout the week, and I’ve tried to implement those things.

“Again, the whole basis and the genesis of everything when I first got it was, ‘Let’s not just make change to make change just because. Let’s do it with intent. Let’s do it for the right reasons and let’s have a well-thought-out process in doing that.’ That’s how we’ve attacked it personally, that’s how I’ve attacked it with the staff and with the players, and I think they’ve responded well.”

The important precedent Giants should consider with Joe Schoen decision looming | New York Post

There are no absolutes, no one right way and no hard-and-fast rule for how it must be done. The Giants either will stick with Joe Schoen as their general manager or will not.

General managers often get two chances to hire a head coach. There is plenty of precedent that the second time is the charm. What this means for Schoen and the Giants will soon be revealed.
