Edge defender Brian Burns trending toward playing

Three members of the current New York Giants’ 53-man roster have been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons:

  • LG Aaron Stinnie (concussion)
  • ILB Bobby Okereke (back)
  • Edge Patrick Johnson (knee)

Quarterback Tommy DeVito has cleared the league’s concussion protocol and will be the backup for Drew Lock on Sunday.

Edge defender Brian Burns, who has 8.0 sacks and is within reach of the second double-digit sack season of his career, is trending toward playing despite being listed with ankle and neck injuries.

Cornerback Greg Stroman (shoulder/shin) was not expected to practice on Friday. His availability for Sunday’s game was not determined prior to practice. Cornerbacks Deonte Banks (rib) and Dru Phillips (shoulder) have been out of the lineup. Their status for Sunday is not yet known.

With Stinnie, the replacement for Jon Runyan Jr. (IR/ankle) unable to play, undrafted free agent rookie Jake Kubas is likely to start at left guard.
