With the New York Giants floundering at 2-6 and their playoff hopes seemingly dashed, trade rumors are swirling around the franchise, particularly regarding a former first-round pick.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reports that Kayvon Thibodeaux’s name is popping up in trade speculation across the league. The Giants picked up the fifth-year option on the No. 5 overall pick from the 2022 NFL Draft during the offseason.

“Sources: Another name to watch on the trade front is #Giants EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux. He’s under contract for another year after this season, but some around the league have wondered whether he’s part of New York’s long-term plans and if he could become available with the Giants sitting at 2-6,” Schultz posted on X. “Teams are actively exploring the pass-rush trade market, but movement has been slow — in part because there are so many available options.”

Thibodeaux’s 2025 Production

Thibodeaux has 2.5 sacks through eight games this season, with two pass breakups, five tackles for loss, nine quarterback hits and 21 tackles. While his sack numbers are down, he’s been excellent at stopping the run. Pro Football Focus credits Thibodeaux with 16 stops — which means a successful play for the defense — ranking eighth in the NFL.

Teams that could seek edge rushers at the trade deadline include the San Francisco 49ers, Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens and Dallas Cowboys.

Overall, Thibodeaux has 23.5 career sacks in 51 games, with three fumble recoveries and six forced fumbles.
