Silver And Black Pride
The Las Vegas Raiders signed wide receiver Tyler Lockett this week. Let’s take a closer look at Lockett:
Size:
5-10, 182 pounds.
NFL experience:|
Lockett is in his 11th NFL season. He was with the Seattle Seahawks from 2015-24 before being released this offseason. He spent the the first portion of this season with the Tennessee Titans. He has 671 career catches for 8,664 yards and 61 touchdowns. Lockett had 10 catches for 70 yards in seven games with the Titans this season before asking and being granted his release.
College:
Lockett went to Kansas State. He was a third-round draft choice of the Seahawks in 2015.
Raiders ties:
He spent nine seasons in Seattle with Raiders’ head coach Pete Carroll and some assistants. He and Carroll were very close. Lockett and Raiders’ quarterback Geno Smith also had a strong connection in Seattle as well.
Thoughts on timing of his signing:
The entire league thought Lockett would sign with the Raiders in the offseason when he was available. Yet, he remained on the market for quite a while before signing with the Titans. Now, it’s a bit surprising the pairing happened. The Raiders 2-5 and might be better off giving snaps to younger receivers rather than a 33-year-old Lockett.
How he will fit in with Raiders:
Lockett will likely get chances to contribute right away and he could get more playing time if Jakobi Meyers is traded by the November 4 trade deadline. We will see if Lockett can produce more than he did in Tennessee.
