Former Pittsburgh Steelers receiver George Pickens is being well received by his new team after his trade to the Dallas Cowboys.
The Pittsburgh Steelers made two big wide receiver trades this offseason. After trading for D.K. Metcalf, they sent George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys a couple of months afterward. According to reports, Pickens has been received well by his new teammates.
There’s no doubt Pickens’ talent is sky-high. Unfortunately, the headaches exceeded production. With that, the Steelers decided a new start for Pickens was best.
So far, he is winning over his teammates and even his new head coach.
“He comes to work every day with a smile on his face,” Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said, via Todd Archer of ESPN. “I’m a big George Pickens fan,”
The Steelers also saw little to no red flags for Pickens early on, who was associated with multiple concerns during the draft process. However, his new quarterback isn’t worried about what has been said about his new receiver.
“I think that’s why you should never really listen to what somebody else says about somebody,” Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott said of Pickens. “I think you should find out for yourself who they are.”
A new start for Pickens could be what he needed. He now has stability at the quarterback position with Prescott. During his three seasons with the Steelers, Pickens played with five different starting signal callers.
Time will tell if Pickens can turn his career around in Dallas. If he can learn from Pittsburgh, he could very well be one of the league’s best. The concern is maturity.
The 24-year-old, who is in the final year of his rookie contract, recently told fans he forced a trade. This came after general manager Omar Khan indicated Pickens didn’t request a trade. Instances like this, in-game and post-game antics, and game-time tardiness helped lead to his departure.
