George Pickens mentioned “building a winning culture” numerous times during his introductory press conference with the Dallas media on Thursday afternoon. He’s also excited to play with quarterback Dak Prescott.

“I feel great. I like the mojo here. I like the swag. I feel like they have a great thing going for sure,” Pickens said“I’m grateful to be here. I’m grateful to play with Dak.”

Pickens said Prescott was one of the first people that reached out to him.

“Just watching his game over the years, he’s a very prolific quarterback. Smart quarterback at that,” Pickens said.

Pickens played with five different starting quarterbacks during his three-year tenure with the Steelers — Kenny Pickett, Mitch Trubisky, Mason Rudolph, Justin Fields and Russell Wilson. Prescott will be by far the best signal-caller that he’s played with in the NFL .

Pickens is happy to be a member of the Cowboys, but made it clear that he did not demand a departure from Pittsburgh. When asked specifically about what led to his departure from Pittsburgh, Pickens cited the business of football.

“This game is just as much of a business as it is football,” he said. “It was kind of out of my control. I’m just glad to be here in Dallas and continue the winning culture that they have.”

Pickens also said that he’s not focused on getting a contract extension at this time. He leaves Pittsburgh with just one season remaining on his rookie contract.

“I’m kinda where my feet are right now, to be honest,” Pickens said. “I’m not really thinking about contract talks. I’m just glad to be with the Cowboys right now, trying to build a winning culture.”

Pickens is focused on the present. Whatever happened in Pittsburgh is behind him.

“I can’t change anyone’s opinion. Me, personally, I just continue to grow,” Pickens said. “Everyone in the world has to grow as you get older and older. I’m just trying to build a winning culture, which they already have at the Cowboys. I’m just glad to be joining.”

Pickens feels the combination of him and CeeDee Lamb at wide receiver will give opposing teams fits.

“I just feel like schematically, you won’t be able to double everybody so that will be a great thing for me and him,” Pickens said.

It will be interesting to see what the trio of Prescott, Lamb and Pickens can do in Dallas. On paper, they could have one of the most prolific passing offense in the NFL.
