The New York Jets decided not to try and score before halftime against the Denver Broncos on Sunday and Garrett Wilson was not happy with head coach Aaron Glenn. Every single player on both sides of the ball was completely baffled by the horrendous clock management.
That sentiment also goes for the fans, analysts and coaches who aren’t Glenn.
It was one of the worst two-minute drives in NFL history. I am not being hyperbolic.
We begin this story at the three-minute and 22-second mark in the second quarter. New York trailed Denver 10-6. It had the ball on its own 16-yard-line with a chance to go score before halftime.
The first few plays of the drive went pretty well.
The Jets faced 4th-and-1 from their own 37-yard-line with one minute and four seconds remaining. Aaron Glenn elected to call a timeout to talk it over. He ultimately called a fake punt— and it worked!
