Garrett Wilson: Target factory

Garrett Wilson: Target factory
Gang Green Nation Gang Green Nation

It isn’t a secret that the New York Jets wide receiver group leaves much to be desired. It’s pretty much Garrett Wilson and then a series of dice rolls if you ask the typical Jets fan. Based on the offensive output to date, it seems like the Jets decision makers have come to a similar conclusion.

As shown by this tweet by Sam Hoppen of ESPN, Garrett Wilson’s target share is really only rivaled by Los Angeles Ram Puka Nakua and Seattle Seahawk Jaxon Smith-Njigba, putting him in rare company. Basically, the Jets are treating Garrett Wilson as an alpha among alphas, which probably says a lot about what they think of his talent level.

Beyond that, the two highest targeted players are runningback Breece High and tight end Mason Taylor, which also probably says quite a bit about what the Jets think of the their receivers outside of Garrett Wilson. While nothing is guaranteed, I have to imagine this will be an area of emphasis for head coach Aaron Glenn and general Manager Darren Mougey next offseason.
