Only one team is still winless, the New York Jets. It’s been a rough start for first-year head coach Aaron Glenn, to say the least. But we can’t put all of this on coaching.
For one, Justin Fields played horribly in the Jets’ Week 6 loss to the Broncos. He played so badly that Fields completed just 9-of-17 passes for 45 yards, averaging a ghastly 2.6 yards per attempt. Making matters worse, Fields took a whopping nine sacks for a total of 55 yards.
Yet, the worst moment in the Jets’ 13-11 loss to Denver was when New York’s offense was at the line of scrimmage at the 47-yard line with 11 seconds to play before the half expired. That’s plenty of time to get a play off, and New York only needed one yard on the 4th-and-1 attempt.
The Jets were trailing 10-6 at the time, and picking up a few extra yards may have been enough to get into field goal range. However, the Jets didn’t even get the ball snapped, allowing all 11 seconds to wind off the clock as they headed into the locker room for the halftime break.
That left Jets star receiver Garrett Wilson incensed at coach Glenn. Wilson could be seen approaching his head coach and speaking to him with intensity as the team headed into the locker room. After the game was over, Wilson admitted to being “disappointed” with the team’s plans.
Garrett Wilson was asked about his sideline exchange with Aaron Glenn at the end of the first half:
"I just didn't know exactly what the plan was. Once I figured it out, I was disappointed. I'll just say that."
Follow-up: "To not run a play, is that what you mean?"
Wilson: "I… pic.twitter.com/SkHpYtZQIt

Even an ugly Hail Mary attempt would have been better than not even trying to advance the ball. The Jets would have at least had a slim chance of putting more points on the board, but not even trying? That should upset any athlete.
