In a de facto playoff game at Acrisure Stadium, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens will play on the bright stage of Sunday Night Football. The winner will earn the AFC North crown and the right to host a postseason game.
The Steelers left the door cracked open by falling to the Cleveland Browns 13-6 on the road Sunday. The Ravens stayed alive as Tyler Huntley topped Malik Willis and the Green Bay Packers on Saturday night.
The Steelers had a few chances to run away with the division title this season. Before heading into Cincinnati to play the Bengals on Thursday Night Football, the Steelers owned a sizable advantage in the standings, partially because Lamar Jackson and the Ravens started 1-5. The Steelers dropped that clash to Veteran quarterback Joe Flacco, beginning a skid that allowed John Harbaugh’s team back in it.
The Steelers beat the Ravens when they visited Baltimore earlier this month, putting them in the driver’s seat for the past few weeks.
Mike Tomlin’s squad won the next two after that game in Baltimore, including a victory over Dan Campbell’s Detroit Lions. During that matchup, star receiver DK Metcalf forcefully grabbed a fan, prompting the NFL to hand him a two-game suspension. The Steelers’ offense felt his absence against Kevin Stefanski’s team, as Aaron Rodgers tried to hit Marquez Valdes-Scantling three times in a row as the Steelers tried to at least tie the game late.
The Steelers/Ravens tilt promises to add another chapter to an already decorated divisional rivalry. Depending on how things shake out, it could be the last of its kind between Tomlin and Harbaugh.
