Game balls for the Broncos 21-17 comeback win over the Eagles
Mile High Report Mile High Report

Things looked bleak for the Denver Broncos heading into the final quarter on the road against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. Down 17-3 on the road in that environment and against an undefeated champion is not usually a winnable situation. Instead, the entire team rallied to score 18-unanswered points for the biggest win in Sean Payton’s career in Denver.

Bo Nix and the offense was as efficient as ever, scoring on three consecutive possessions, while the defense shut down the Eagles offense and forced three consecutive three-and-outs to help the comeback along. At 3-2, the Broncos enter the ‘soft’ portion of their schedule with a chance to get onto a run heading into their not-so-soft portion of their schedule in the second half of the season. We’re here for it!

Here are Mile High Report’s game balls!

Bo Nix

Backs against the wall on the road against the undefeated defending Super Bowl champs, and an offense that was doing nothing, suddenly came to life. And Nix was the catalyst. He just had his best quarter of football as a professional quarterback to give the Broncos their signature win. Nix finished the game 24-for-39 passing for 242 yards and a touchdown. But in the fourth quarter is when Nix was simply incredible. He was 9-of-10 passing for 126 yards, a touchdown, a 2-point conversion, was 3-for-3 on scoring drives, and all of that to overcome a 14-point deficit. What a performance by Nix. What a win for the Broncos. – Ian St. Clair

Sean Payton

Sean Payton gets my game ball for his belief in and leadership of this football team. The game looked hard in the first half because Payton was constantly being aggressive with his play calls. The game was won because he just kept doing it. Good teams win a lot of games when their coach believes in their player and keeps giving them chances to go win the game. – Sadaraine

Nik Bonitto

With the game on the line and the Eagles sure to throw the ball, Nik Bonitto came up with one of the biggest plays of the game sacking Jalen Hurts to burn a whole bunch of time off the clock. Bonitto finished the game with 2.5 sacks, 3 QB pressures, 2 TFL, and 4 tackles (3 solo). Nik gets my game ball for playing one his most complete games. He even played well in coverage the few times he dropped. – Joe Mahoney

Zach Allen

Once again, while not necessarily lighting up the stat sheet, Zach Allen made his presence known the entire game on Sunday. He was stout in the run game, shutting down most of the run game and clogging holes in the middle of the line. And he aided his edge rushers by pressing the pocket and giving Jalen Hurts no where to go. While guys like Nik Bonitto and Jonathan Cooper are getting tons of recognition when it comes to pressures (which they should),...
