Game balls for the Broncos 20-12 win over the Titans
Mile High Report Mile High Report

It wasn’t pretty on offense, but the Denver Broncos did what they needed to do offensively to score enough points and their defense dominated from start to finish to help close out a 20-12 win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 1. They’ve got time to clean things up before hitting to road next week in Indy.

Given how many big plays the Broncos defense made, we just didn’t have enough staff to cover all of the game ball worthy play on that side of the ball. So we’ll offer up an honorable mention to all those guys anyway.

Here are Mile High Report’s game balls!

Courtland Sutton

With six catches for 61 yards and a 22 yard touchdown reception, Courtland Sutton lived up to his offseason extension nicely. There was that one negative on Bo Nix’s first interception, but I feel like Nix should have put a little more zip on that throw. Sutton could have also fought for it more. It is what it is and Sutton bounced back to make some important catches outside his touchdown to extend drives and help the offense find some rhythm on a day when there wasn’t much of that to go around offensively.

Nik Bonitto

Nik Bonitto gets my game ball for being a consistent presence off the edge that forced the Titans to rotate help his way and rush plays. He had a key sack for a 12 yard loss on a 3rd down and a tackle for loss on the day. This guy showed exactly why the team rewarded him this offseason with an extension as he’s a play maker for this defense. – Sadaraine

Talanoa Hufanga

In his first game with the Broncos, Hufanga lived up to the hype. The safety was all over the field and made his presence felt in a defense that is legit. Hufanga finished with a game-high 10 tackles (seven solo) and a forced fumble. If his first game in Denver is any indication, he’s going to be fun to watch all season. Helluva start for Huganga with the Broncos. – Ian St. Clair

JK Dobbins

JK Dobbins displayed the proper way of how to make a splash with your new team. He was reliable, and outside of his last few runs when Tennessee knew what was coming, he was chunking out solid yardage for the offense. His first touchdown came at the perfect time and that nasty stiff arm was the cherry on top. I’m glad the Broncos brought him in this offseason. – Ross Allen

RJ Harvey

RJ Harvey had 6 carries for 70 yards which included a long 50 yard run which was a huge momentum shift in the game. It would lead to a game winning JK Dobbins touchdown run and show off the rookie explosive ability. More of that moving forward please. – Scotty Payne
