What a terrible offensive performance by the Denver Broncos. Imagine how more annoyed we would all be had their defensive not dominated to help them to a 13-1 win over the New York Jets in London on Sunday. Probably a lot more annoyed, but in the NFL all that matters is the win and the 4-2 Broncos got one in Week 6.
Due to the woeful offensive output, expect a whole lot of defensive-related game balls from our staff in this game. If it weren’t for a turnover, a long kickoff return, and a safety, the Jets would have only scored three points in this game. The defense was that dominant throughout giving up just nine completions to go with nine quarterback sacks on Justin Fields.
Here are Mile High Report’s game balls!
In need of a play from anyone, someone, the Broncos got it from Cooper. The Denver edge delivered a monstrous and timely performance for his team. Cooper finished the game with five tackles (two solo), two sacks, three QB hits, and one tackle for loss. Nothing was bigger than Cooper’s second sack that sealed the win for the Broncos. – Ian St. Clair
The Denver Broncos defense is stacked, and has been terrorizing opponents all season. Nik Bonitto has been the player who has had the biggest impact on opposing teams game plans, outside of PS2. Against the Jets he had another sack and 2 QB hits. He makes big tackles in big moments. I believe Bonitto is Italian for Bad Mother****er. – Adam Malnati
The Broncos defense was already comfortably ahead of the next best team in terms of sack. Adding nine more to that tally today should easily extend their league lead there. The best part is that eight different players got in on the action there. Allen being among those with a sack and his consistent pressure up the middle helped keep Field uncomfortable and unable to sneak through for his typical scramble drills. Well done to the whole defense! – Tim Lynch
Talanoa Hufanga gets my game ball this week. He was all over plays throughout the game with safety blitzes for sacks, tackles for loss, and making a game-saving pass defense at the end of the game to help seal the win for the Broncos. I’m impressed every week with his instincts and how quickly he diagnoses plays to be in the right spot at the right time, which is exactly what you want to see at the safety position. – Sadaraine
After watching this game tape-delayed and looking at the stats, I’d like to give my game ball to the whole defense, but since I can’t I will give it to Justin Strnad. Strnad had a big whiff on a run in the backfield on Breece Hall, but he finished the game with five tackles, 1.5 sacks, 1 TFL and 2 pressures. His lone solo tackle...
