Friday Night Happy Hour: New year edition

Welcome back to BTSC’s Friday night open thread.

1. New Year’s was yesterday. How did you spend the holiday? Did you watch any football?
2. Running back Kenneth Gainwell was voted Steelers MVP by his teammates today. It’s a well-deserved honor and not something anyone was expecting this offseason. What do you think of the choice? And can you think of a more unexpected MVP season from a Steelers player?
3. T.J. Watt said he’s playing against Baltimore. Do you think he’ll be on a pitch count? What kind of impact do you expect him to make?
4. Most of the beat writers I follow weren’t too happy that the Steelers game this week was scheduled for Sunday Night Football. Do you have any strong feelings on the subject?
5. With the regular season ending in two days, 18 teams will be entering the offseason next week. When does draft season start for you? After the regular season? Once the Steelers are done playing? After the combine?
6. I received some cash and gift cards for Christmas and used them to buy a cheap lap steel guitar I’ll attempt to teach myself to play once it arrives today. What’s the last item you splurged to buy for yourself? (And any lap steel tips? I’m listening.)
