Behind the Steel Curtain
Welcome back to BTSC’s Friday night open thread:
There’s been a recent trend of generator games appearing online centered on sports. Some of them are teambuilding generators that have you build a lineup with players from different teams, eras, etc. Others have you build a “perfect” player by selecting traits from various players. Most of them involve some sort of spinner/wheel to randomize the process. Some fun ones I’ve played are 17-0 and Build-a-player. That got me thinking, let’s try something similar with the Steelers. While I can’t replicate the random generator, I can make a lineup and categories. So, try to build your best lineup with a player from each category. We’ll start with offense:
Lineup: Categories:
– QB – 1970s
– RB – 1980s
– WR – 1990s
– WR – 2000s
– TE – 2010s
– OT – 2020s
– OT – Hall of Famer
– C – All-Pro Selection
– G – Wild Card (x2)
– G
Now let’s do the same thing for defense:
Lineup: Categories:
– DT – 1970s
– DT – 1980s
– DE/OLB – 1990s
– DE/OLB – 2000s
– ILB – 2010s
– ILB – 2020s
– CB – Hall of Famer
– CB – All-Pro Selection
– S – Wild Card (x2)
– S
3. This week, BTSC had an article about potential trade targets our site’s editor thought would be worth the Steelers pursuing. I wanted to put that topic to you readers, though. Is there a position group (sans quarterback) you think the Steelers still need to improve in? If so, who are some players you’d like to see them target? Bonus points if you can share what the Steelers would be trading away.
4. We’re still in the midst of the World Cup, and as a person living in one of the host cities, it’s pretty inescapable. I won’t bore you with soccer talk, but I was curious if you had any fun memories of a favorite sporting event or a similar type of event that you went to a bar or watch party to watch. The unity at these World Cup watch parties has been fun if you ever get an opportunity to go to something like it.
5. Song of the Night:
In the spirit of the World Cup, we’ll go with a tongue-in-cheek selection with an old classic.
