Two top-100 picks did almost nothing last season, and the Packers still went 11-6. If they can contribute in 2025, it will be like getting bonus draft picks.
Seven games, 225 snaps, and one start.
That’s the combined production that the Green Bay Packers got out of two top-100 picks in the 2024 NFL Draft. Brian Gutekunst drafted offensive lineman Jordan Morgan with the 25th pick, then after a pair of defensive players in round two, he selected USC running back MarShawn Lloyd at #88.
The two combined for that stat line above, with Lloyd carrying the football six times for 15 yards and adding one reception for 3 yards on his only 10 snaps of the season. Morgan started one game at left guard, missing three games early in the season with an injury and then the entire second half of the season.
Heading into their second professional season, each of these two players is looking for much more, while the Packers need to get more production out of them as well. The team just went 11-6 and made the playoffs with virtually no contributions from two top-100 picks; if they’re back and healthy, it would be a bit like getting bonus draft picks on top of the selections they’re about to make in the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay.
With questions about the team’s plan at center, Morgan could be in line for a bigger role depending on the decisions across the offensive line. Meanwhile, Lloyd should be a candidate to spell starter Josh Jacobs and give the Packers some explosive plays out of the backfield.
The opportunities should be there for these two to make significant impacts in 2025. Here’s hoping they seize them.
