Are there any pending free agents from the NFC West whom the Packers should target?

WE. ARE. BACK. After taking a look at pending free agents from across the NFL, we’ve arrived at the NFC West, and well well well, if it isn’t the linebacker show! The Green Bay Packers could use a little juice at the position, both inside and outside, so let’s take a look at how some of these free agents may fare in green and gold.

Arizona Cardinals: LB Kyzir White

This is by no means the “big ticket” signing I think the Packers need to make at the position, because I am a little unmoved by Kyzir, the younger brother of former Bears WR Kevin White. You know who else doesn’t move me, though? Quay Walker. Maybe the Packers can bring White in, and he and Walker can combine to be one really good linebacker. The one thing I like about White is his experience at safety. He entered the draft at the position, and was moved to linebacker by the Chargers. He’s got the ability to play multiple spots if needed, and with some questions surrounding the Packers’ secondary in 2025, he could be a big benefit if the safeties had to do some shuffling. In his 2024 season with the Cardinals, White accumulated 137 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 1 FR, and 1 INT.

Los Angeles Rams: LB Michael Hoecht

The AFC West was full of exciting free agents, and as I move through the NFC West, I find myself wanting to take a NAP. EDGE Michael Hoecht would definitely be a depth signing for the Packers, as I don’t think he’s quite “there” yet. However, he’s just 27, will likely come cheap, and would ultimately be a low risk acquisition. An absolute unit of a human being at 6’4” and close to 300 lbs, Hoecht moves more quickly than you would expect. In 57% of defensive snaps for the Rams in 2024, Hoecht amassed 56 tackles, 6 QB hits, and 3 sacks.

San Francisco 49ers: LB Dre Greenlaw

We barely saw any Dre Greenlaw in the 2024 season due to an unfortunate torn Achilles suffered during the Super Bowl in February of last year. Greenlaw played in just two games, where he accumulated 9 tackles. It’s never a guarantee as to how players are going to bounce back from injuries like an Achilles tear, but something tells me that 27-year-old Greenlaw has a few more productive seasons left in him. The injury came as Greenlaw closed out his best season as a pro, with 120 tackles, 4 QB hits, and 1.5 sacks. Packers fans can certainly dream of getting guys like Myles Garrett or Maxx Crosby, but Dre Greenlaw on a cheap(er) deal feels really realistic.

Seattle Seahawks: LB Ernest Jones

Traded from the Tennessee Titans to the Seattle Seahawks midseason, Jones started all 10 games for his new team, and he looked pretty good, though inconsistent at times. Totaling...
