Are there any highlights in the underwhelming free agent class of the AFC North?

As you know (or maybe you don’t, who cares), I’ve been combing through NFL players who are set to become free agents in 2025, and picking guys I think could make it work with the Green Bay Packers. I am suffering. This free agency class is underwhelming at all the spots the Packers need, but I WILL NOT QUIT. We’ve arrived at the AFC North, a division I was looking forward to covering, until the Cincinnati Bengals announced they’d most likely be placing the franchise tag on WR Tee Higgins. Let’s take a look.

Baltimore Ravens: CB Tre’Davious White

Tre’Davious White was once an electric player during his time with the Buffalo Bills, but after a multitude of leg injuries, he is simply not that player anymore. OR IS HE? He’s probably not. At 30 years old, White has appeared in just 21 games the last three seasons, and hasn’t had more than 1 INT in a season since 2020. That being said, we’ve seen him at his best, and it’s really good. I personally don’t think it would be wise for the Packers to sign White, especially if you’re potentially trying to replace Jaire Alexander, whose biggest issue has been availability. However, if you’re looking for a veteran presence to help the next wave of guys you bring in via the 2025 draft, then maybe White is your guy (he’s not, but I had to pick someone from the Ravens roster!)

Cincinnati Bengals: LB Joseph Ossai

I had it all ready to go. I was all in on WR Tee Higgins. I wanted him. The Packers needed him. The Bengals decided they needed him more, which I think is a little selfish, but it’s fine. I’M FINE. Moving on!

Just 24 years old, Joseph Ossai is coming off of his best season as a pro, with 5 sacks, 46 tackles, 15 QB hits, 31 pressures, and 2 forced fumbles. He’s an extremely under the radar player who probably won’t command a ton of money, and it would bring me great warmth to see the Packers add him to their roster. As someone in the comments of the below video points out: “He runs like a crazy person”. Isn’t that everything we want?

Cleveland Browns: LB Devin Bush

I contemplated picking no one from this godforsaken list of Cleveland Browns free agents, but we power through. Devin Bush has always seemed like one of those guys who just never played up to his potential, due in part to him suffering a torn ACL in the 2020 season. He’s still just 26 years old, and could see a potential career resurrection in Green Bay (I’ll will this into existence). Bush finished the 2024 season with 76 tackles and 1 sack in 16 appearances with the Browns.
