PITTSBURGH — Four injured members of the Pittsburgh Steelers did not practice on Wednesday, as the team began in earnest its preparations for a Week 16 visit to the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

Outside linebacker Nick Herbig, cornerback James Pierre, left guard Isaac Seumalo and outside linebacker T.J. Watt all did not participate in practice today.

Herbig is dealing with a hamstring injury that cropped up against the Miami Dolphins on Monday, and Watt has yet to return to the practice field after suffering a partially collapsed lung last week.

The combination of Watt and Herbig’s absences had the Steelers inside linebackers very thin at practice, with just Alex Highsmith, DeMarvin Leal, Jack Sawyer and Julius Welschof practicing.

Seumalo was also injured in the win over the Dolphins, also missed his first practice back after the game. With the Steelers on a short week after their Monday Night Football win, it’ll be tough for the recently injured Steelers to get back in action.

James Pierre, who is attempting to return from a Week 14 calf injury, missed his fourth straight practice.
