With Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy suffering a shoulder injury and not returning in Friday night’s loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Allen Robinson II made a pitch to Kansas City to sign him.
The Chiefs are also without wide receiver Rashee Rice, who’s serving a six-game suspension from the NFL to start the 2025 season for violating the league’s personal conduct policy,
“No [cap], Chiefs, I’m a free agent,” Robinson said via X. “I swear I could help yall.”

The Steelers released Robinson on March 8, 2024 in a salary cap-related move. Robinson had been set to earn $10 million in salary in 2024. It had been reported that the Steelers were attempting to negotiate a deal that would bring Robinson back to Pittsburgh at a reduced salary, but that never came to fruition.
Robinson played and started in all 17 games for the Steelers in 2023, but he hardly produced. He caught 34 passes for 280 yards and did not score a touchdown.
He finished fourth on the team in targets and receptions and fifth in yards, behind fellow wide receivers Diontae Johnson and George Pickens, tight end Pat Freiermuth and running back Jaylen Warren, despite Freiermuth and Johnson both missing significant time with injuries. That kind of production wasn’t worth bringing back at a $10 million salary. His numbers have significantly dropped in the last four years, as well.
Robinson signed with the New York Giants on May 9, but his tenure did not last long, as he was released during the final cuts in late August.
On Aug, 28, 2024, Robinson was signed to the Detroit Lions practice squad. He was promoted to the active roster on Sept. 26. In the 2024 season, he appeared in 12 games and finished with three receptions for 30 yards.
In his 11-year career, Robinson has recorded 565 receptions for 7,058 yards and 43 touchdowns.
At 32, Robinson’s best years are behind him. To say the least, it would be surprising if the Chiefs signed him.
