A former wide receiver of the Pittsburgh Steelers is heading back to the NFC.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Dan Chisena is signing to the Carolina Panthers practice squad, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2.

Chisena, 28, is a Paoli, Pennsylvania native, who spent the 2023 training camp and preseason with the Steelers. In three preseason games, he had one catch for 16 yards and was waived before the start of the regular season.

The 6-foot-3, 202-pound wide receiver began his NFL career as an undrafted free agent out of the 2020 NFL Draft and was signed by the Minnesota Vikings shortly after.

Chisena re-signed with the Vikings following his short stint in Pittsburgh. He was on their practice squad for six weeks before being released and signed to the Arizona Cardinals practice squad. After their season ended, he joined the Baltimore Ravens practice squad.

In 2024, Chisena rejoined the Cardinals practice squad but was cut in October. He then caught on with the Carolina Panthers, playing in six games through the end of the 2024 season. He played 19 snaps of offense in addition to 81 reps on special teams, finishing with two tackles and three catches on four targets for 37 yards.

A track and football star at Downingtown East High School in Chester County, Chisena ran track for Penn State from 2016-18. He competed in the 100 and 400 meters, and was a part of Penn State’s relay team that won the 2017 Big Ten championship.

In 2018, he walked onto the football team, appearing in two games on special teams while also being a multiple-time scout team player of the week. The following season, he earned a scholarship, played in 12 games and made two starts. He won the John Bruno Award as Penn State’s top special teams player.
