The Minnesota Vikings have signed former Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Nick Vannett, the team announced on Monday. This is the ninth stop in his NFL career, having spent last year with the Tennessee Titans.
The Steelers had acquired Vannett from the Seattle Seahawks for a fifth-round 2020 NFL Draft choice in a trade midway through the 2019 season, but he did not have much of an impact. He caught 13 passes for 128 yards over 13 games in Pittsburgh.
The Seahawks turned around and traded that pick to Washington for cornerback Quinton Dunbar, who started six games for Seattle in 2020 before suffering a knee injury. Washington used it to draft former McKeesport and Michigan linebacker Khaleke Hudson.

Vannett was originally drafted in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft out of Ohio State by Seattle. He has 91 career catches for 877 yards and six touchdowns over five seasons.
During his career, Vannett has played for the Seahawks, Steelers, Broncos, Saints, Giants, Texans, Chargers, Titans, and now, the Vikings.
Vannett spent the 2020 season in Denver, recording only 14 catches for 95 yards in 15 games. He then played for the Saints in 2021 and half of the 2022 season until he was released on Nov. 19. He signed with the New York Giants shortly after and finished the season with the G-Men.
Vannett spent the 2023 season with the Texans and Chargers. He caught just one pass for three yards in eight games (5 starts) with the Chargers.
Vannett bounced-back in 2024 with the Titans, catching 17 passes for 135 yards and three touchdowns, tying his career-best mark. Vannett also was healthy, playing all 17 games and making 10 starts.
