Former Pittsburgh Steelers slot cornerback Arthur Maulet has signed a one-year deal with the Houston Texans, according to Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network.
Maulet had a standout 2023 season with the Baltimore Ravens, registering 37 tackles, two sacks, two fumble recoveries, one interception and five passes defended. He had an injury-riddled season in 2024, however, as he was limited to only three games. He now looks to get his career back on track in Houston.
Maulet joined the Steelers on a one-year deal in 2021. During that season, he had 47 tackles, one forced fumble and one pass defensed, which earned him a two-year contract extension the next offseason.
However, Pittsburgh released Maulet just one year into his extension. It was a bit surprising since he was coming off the most productive season of his career, recording a career-high 59 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble and one interception.

Maulet understands that it’s a business, but he has no love for the Steelers anymore.
“It’s football, man. Obviously it’s business is business,” Maulet said on Glenn Clark Radio in March of 2024. “It’s a rivalry. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t like those guys anymore. I respect them, I don’t have to like them. … I respect those guys on the other side, and obviously I want PQ to have so much success, but not against us.”
Maulet was released in May of 2023. After, he and the Steelers had a contract dispute, causing Maulet to ask for his release. Seemingly, Maulet asked for more money, and Pittsburgh did not oblige.
“I’m a vet, year No. 7,” Maulet told Ravens.com. “I just wanted a little something, a little security. I think I earned that. Baltimore gave me that, which was surprising that it was a rivalry team. Obviously, they believe in me. That just makes me feel good about the work I put in this offseason.”
