Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Kalen Ballage had a record-breaking performance in the first week of the 2025 UFL season.

Ballage, playing for the Arlington Renegades against the San Antonio Brahmas on Saturday, took a handoff and took off for a 77-yard run, the longest in the two-year history of the league.

The long score helped the Renegades to a dominant 33-9 victory over Brahmas in the opening week of the season.

Ballage finished the game with 110 yards on just nine carries, leading Arlington in rushing yards and yards from scrimmage. He also had one catch for nine yards.

Ballage, 29, spent the entire 2021 season with the Steelers, largely serving as a special teams player and reserve running back. He did not sign with another NFL team after leaving Pittsburgh.

Ballage was selected by the San Antonio Brahmas in the sixth round of the 2023 XFL Draft, and he played in five games with that team in the spring of 2023, rushing 55 times for 149 yards.

After the XFL and USFL merged to form the UFL in the spring of 2024, Ballage was removed from the San Antonio roster and did not play anywhere during the 2024 season. He signed with the Renegades in January.

Also suiting up for the Renegades are former Steelers wide receiver Tyler Vaughns (two catches for 28 yards), outside linebacker Tuzar Skipper (one tackle) and offensive lineman Kellen Diesch.

For the Brahmas, former Steelers include running backs Anthony McFarland (three carries, 32 yards; two catches, six yards) and John Lovett (eight carries, 18 yards, TD; one catch, 16 yards), tight end Alize Mack, wide receivers Izaiah Gathings, Marquez Stevenson (two punt returns, 18 yards) and Mathew Sexton, outside linebacker Toby Ndukwe, inside linebacker Tariq Carpenter (one tackle), safety Jalen Elliott (three tackles) and punter Brad Wing (three punts, 163 yards).
