Former quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers Justin Fields suffered a concussion in week two, ruled out for the New York Jets week three.

While the Pittsburgh Steelers are dealing with their own injuries, their former quarterback, whom they battled in week one, suffered one of their own. On Wednesday, New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn told reporters Justin Fields is out with a concussion.

Fields, who signed with the Jets this past offseason, sustained the injury in week two. After coming off one of his best career performances, the Jets’ offense was grounded by the Buffalo Bills.

New York scored only 10 points after coasting to 32 against the Steelers in week one. Fields was knocked out of the game before the Jets scored their lone touchdown in the fourth quarter in a 30-10 defeat.

It remains unclear when the fifth-year veteran out of Ohio State will return to football activities. Concussions can be tricky, and the team likely is being cautious by ruling him out early in the week.

After being drafted 11th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Bears, Fields has had an up-and-down career. With Chicago, Fields posted a 10-28 record with a final season plagued by injury. He was traded to the Steelers during the 2024 offseason.

After joining Pittsburgh, Fields was thrown into action after Russell Wilson suffered an injury before week one. He started the first six games, posting a 4-2 record for the Steelers.

In those six games, he threw five touchdowns, rushed for another five scores, and recorded a career high 93.3 passer rating. After Wilson took over, Fields saw the field sparingly, which might’ve led to him choosing the Jets over the Steelers in the 2025 free agency.
