A former punter of the Pittsburgh Steelers seems to have suffered yet another serious leg injury.
Former Pittsburgh Steelers punter Cameron Johnston seems to have suffered yet another serious leg injury with his new team in Week 4.
Johnston, who signed with the Buffalo Bills earlier this month, had his leg taken out from underneath him during one of his punts on Sunday. He appeared to be in a lot of pain, and now many are speculating how serious the injury could be.

👀 closely, he rolled his ankle which helped him slide out of a catastrophic injury
Likely a capsule sprain and mild bone bruise. Still can take ~2 wk, but he’s only a punter. interesting how they play this pic.twitter.com/wfPyGiuj0m

Johnston and the Bills are certainly hoping he avoided anything serious, especially after he just spent the past year rehabbing a serious knee injury that he suffered in last year’s season opener against the Atlanta Falcons.
The 33-year-old worked his way back and appeared to be at full strength with the Steelers this offseason, but he ended up losing the job to Corliss Waitman, who signed with the team as his injury replacement in 2024. Then last month, the Steelers made the surprising decision to part ways with Johnston.
Johnston just signed a three-year, $9 million contract with Pittsburgh last offseason, and he looked like the real deal as he received a lot of praise from his coaches and teammates throughout the preseason.
However, the team seems to like what it has in Waitman, who filled in quite nicely for Johnston last season, recording a career-long 71-yard punt and 27 of his 65 punts pinning opponents inside their own 20-yard line.
In Buffalo, Johnston was brought in to replace punter Brad Robbins, who was waived. Robbins was expected to be in a competition with Taylor Camarda this training camp, but Camarda was released before the start of camp.
Johnston first joined the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of Ohio State in 2017. He won Super Bowl LII with the Eagles in 2018, and then moved on to the Houston Texans from 2021-23. He led the NFL in punting yards in 2021 with Houston.
