Wide receiver Tevin Jones, who was a preseason star for the Pittsburgh Steelers late last decade, has a new home in the CFL for the 2025 summer season.
Jones, 32, has been playing in Canada for the last three summers, and he has signed on again with the Calgary Stampeders for his fours season in the CFL in 2025. Jones played for the Edmonton Elks in 2024 and the Saskatchewan Roughriders from 2022-23.
A 6-foot-2, 225-pound native of Amory, Mississipi, Jones joined the Steelers in 2018 after having previously spent time with the Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of Memphis.
He signed a future contract with he Steelers on Jan. 29, 2018 and played in four preseason games, making an impressive four catches for 95 yards and two touchdowns.

Jones was cut after the preseason, but was re-signed to the practice squad, where he spent the entire 2018 season. Jones was brought back for 2019, and again played well in the preseason, scoring a touchdown on a pass from Devlin Hodges.

Again in 2019, Jones was cut after the preseason and signed to the practice squad. He was promoted to the active roster on Nov. 14, playing in five regular-season games. He made four catches for 61 yards. Jones was waived on Dec. 19.
He spent the 2020 offseason with the Dallas Cowboys, but was cut after training camp and spent the entire regular season out of football. Jones then caught on with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021, but again was released and spent he regular season outside the league.
That’s when he turned his attention fully up north. Jones signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders for 2022, catching 20 passes for 265 yards and three touchdowns. Back with Saskatchewan for a second season in 2023, he performed even better, catching 65 passes for 882 yards and three scores.
Last season, Jones joined Edmonton and was again a solid receiving threat, catching 40 passes for 731 yards and five touchdowns, including a 93-yard score.

There are two other fellow former Steelers players on the Stampeders roster, defensive end James Vaughters and defensive tackle Josiah Coatney. Altoona native Julian Howsare plays defensive end for Calgary.
The 2025 CFL season will start on June 5, with the 112th edition of the Grey Cup in Winnipeg, Manitoba on Nov. 16.
