The San Antonio Brahmas of the UFL have signed former Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker David Anenih, the league announced last week.

Anenih, 25, most recently was on the practice squad of the Philadelphia Eagles last season. He was signed by the Eagles on Sept. 18, but was released on Nov. 22, missing out on an opportunity to win a Super Bowl ring with Philadelphia.

Anenih first joined the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent out of Houston in 2022. The Steelers signed him off the Titans’ practice squad early in the 2022 season, after an injury to T.J. Watt.

After spending a month on the Steelers active roster without playing in a game, the Steelers put Anenih through waivers and added him to the practice squad. In late December, the Atlanta Falcons poached Anenih from the Pittsburgh practice squad.

He spent the end of the 2022 season with the Falcons and was re-signed for 2023, but was released in May. Anenih spent time with the Arizona Cardinals in 2023 and the Miami Dolphins and Eagles last season, but has yet to play in an NFL regular season game.

An undrafted free agent out of Houston, Anenih racked up 20.5 sacks, 31.5 tackles for loss, and four forced fumbles over his five year career with the Cougars. His best season was a breakout 2021 season, where he put up five sacks, ten tackles for loss, and a forced fumble in 14 starts for Houston. He was named a First-Team All-Conference player in the American Athletic Conference.

Anenih will join several other former Steelers on the Brahmas, including running back Anthony McFarland, wide receivers Mathew Sexton and Marquez Stevenson, tight end Alizé Mack, defensive tackle Jacob Sykes, linebacker Tariq Carpenter, cornerback Chris Steele and punter Brad Wing.

Sexton helped lead the Brahmas to their first win of the season on Sunday with an 83-yard punt return for a touchdown.
