Former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Aiden Williams has signed with the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad. Williams was released from the Steelers’ practice squad in early September.

The 6-foot-5, 314-pound Williams joined the Steelers as an undrafted free agent out of Division II Minnesota-Duluth.

Williams started his collegiate career as a tight end before moving to tackle. With the Steelers, he made the transition to guard, where he played in the team’s first preseason game before a left knee injury kept him out for the rest of the preseason.

Williams played 54 snaps in the open against the Jacksonville Jaguars, all at right guard. He had 32 pass-block snaps and allowed just one pressure, per Pro Football Focus, giving him a pass blocking efficiency of 98.3.

After the injury, Williams did not return to practice until Monday’s session right before he was released.

Williams suffered a left knee injury during the team’s preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars — a game where the rookie was acquitting himself nicely.
