Former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Devin Bush was found not guilty of assaulting his girlfriend.
A judge recently found former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Devin Bush not guilty of assaulting his girlfriend during a May dispute at his home in the Sewickley area, according to Justin Vellucci of TribLIVE.com.
Bush, 27, was accused of injuring Shkurte Leka, the mother of their 3-year-old daughter, after she started filming an argument between them on her iPhone. The conflict reportedly started over how Bush was transferring mashed potatoes into a container in the couple’s kitchen.
Leka testified that Bush chased her through the home and pinned her to a massage table as he tried to wrestle the cellphone from her hands, during which she suffered cuts and abrasions to her wrist and toe.
However, Bush claimed he was trying to leave the home for “a breather” and stressed there was no physical contact. He did admit to smashing Leka’s phone.
Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Bruce Beemer said prosecutors failed to prove Bush had the intent to harm or injure Leka.
“We are relieved and pleased with the verdict,” said attorney Robert Del Greco Jr., who represented Bush. “I think Devin Bush testified cogently and convincingly regarding his abject lack of intent of harm or injure anyone.”
The Steelers selected Bush with the No. 10 overall pick in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He played in Pittsburgh for four seasons (2019-22) before joining the Seattle Seahawks in 2023. He has since joined the Cleveland Browns, who he has played for since 2024.
A native of Pembroke Pines, Florida, Bush has recorded 492 tackles, seven sacks, three forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, 23 passes defensed, four interceptions and one touchdown in his professional career.
