Former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Demarcus Christmas has found a new home in the CFL for 2025. Christmas has signed with the Toronto Argonauts for the 2025 summer season, the team announced on Wednesday. It will be his fourth year in the CFL.

Christmas, a 6-foot-3, 302-pound Florida State alum, joined the Steelers practice squad mid-season in 2020, spending the final eight weeks in Pittsburgh. He re-signed with thee Steelers on a future contract for 2021, but suffered an injury that caused him to miss the entire 2021 season. He had also missed his entire rookie season with the Seattle Seahawks with a back injury in 2019.

It took until the summer of 2022 for Christmas to land on his feet, with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL. He played 15 games in Regina that season, making seven starts. He recorded 22 tackles and one sack. Christmas re-signed with the Roughriders in 2023, again appearing in 15 games and recording 21 tackles and one sack.

Last season, he became a free agent in February and remained unsigned until the Edmonton Elks snapped him up on July 24. He appeared in the final 10 games for Edmonton, racking up nine tackles and a sack.

With CFL free agency opening this week, a number of former Steelers players have found new Canadian homes. Running back Daijun Edwards has signed with the Montreal Alouettes, wide receiver Tevin Jones will play for the Calgary Stampeders and running back Qadree Ollison is with the B.C. Lions.

The 2025 CFL season will start on June 5, with the 112th edition of the Grey Cup in Winnipeg, Manitoba on Nov. 16.
