Former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Trevon Mason has signed with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League, according to the CFL transactions page.

Mason, an Arizona alum, signed with the Steelers as a rookie minicamp tryout in 2022, but was released after just two weeks with the team.

Since his short stint with the Steelers, the 6-foot-6, 305-pound defensive lineman spent the spring 2023 season with the Houston Roughnecks of the XFL, where he played 10 games and made 16 tackles, two tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and had an interception.

Last summer, he first journeyed north of the border, playing for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL. He played in 10 games and recorded 18 tackles for Hamilton last season.

This year, he’ll ply his trade with Montreal, moving from the last-place team in the East Division to the first place team.

At Arizona, Mason was named an All-Pac 12 Honorable Mention in 2021 after he picked up 7.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks for the Wildcats. He led the Wildcats with nine quarterback hurries and registered four pass deflections at the line of scrimmage.

Mason started out at Navarro Community College in 2018 before transferring up and joining Arizona in 2019. He started and played all three years with Arizona, racking up 29 games played with 25 starts to go with that.
