Gilbert, 27, played for the UFL’s Birmingham Stallions in 2024, during which he registered 25 tackles (20 solo) and one interception in seven games.

Before joining the UFL, Gilbert spent time with the Miami Dolphins (2023), USFL’s Pittsburgh Maulers (2023), Pittsburgh Steelers (2021-22) and Detroit Lions (2021).

Gilbert went undrafted in the 2021 NFL Draft and was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Steelers. He did not make the active roster but was signed to Pittsburgh’s practice squad.

Midway through his rookie season, the Lions signed Gilbert off the Steelers practice squad. As a member of Detroit’s active roster, he recorded three tackles (two solo), one forced fumble and one pass defensed in eight games.

Gilbert was waived by the Lions in August of 2022 and re-joined the Steelers practice squad for the 2022 season.

Gilbert played in 12 games during his freshman year at Duke, starting three of them. He then had a standout sophomore year, becoming the only player in Duke history with five or more interceptions and 15 or more passes defended in a single season.

He suffered a hip injury in Week 2 of his junior year against Northwestern. The injury sidelined him for the rest of the 2018 season and the entire 2019 season. Gilbert started two games in 2020 before suffering a season-ending foot injury.

Gilbert was raised in Fayetteville, N.C., but he has Aliquippa roots. His uncle is Sean Gilbert, a Pitt alum and former Pro Bowl defensive tackle with the Los Angeles Rams, and his cousin is Darrelle Revis.
