A former member of the Pittsburgh Steelers believes wide receiver Antonio Brown deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.
It has been greatly debated if former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown deserves to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, given how his NFL career ended. However, even his former teammate Ryan Clark, who wasn’t Browns’ biggest fan, thinks it would be a shame for him to not earn a gold jacket.
“Me & Antonio Brown have history, but these are truths. AB came from nothing, to be the best player on the Steelers! The hardest working offensive player I ever seen. Wanted to win every practice or game rep. Best 6 year run of any WR of his era. A Hall Of Famer!” Clark posted on X.
Brown was arguably the best wide receiver in the league during his 12-year career, recording 928 catches for 12,291 yards and 83 touchdowns.
From 2013-18, Brown never had less than 101 catches and 1,284 yards in a season, putting him on pace with some of the league’s all-time greats.
However, Brown’s career started trending in the wrong direction after leaving Pittsburgh in 2019, when he was traded to the Raiders for third- and fifth-round selections in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Brown suffered frostbite to his feet due to not wearing proper footwear during a cryotherapy session, which forced him to miss the majority of training camp practices.
The Raiders later fined him for unexcused absences and missing team practice sessions. After several other instances, including confronting Raiders general manager Mike Mayock, Brown was granted his released from the team.
Brown went on to spend time with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who he won Super Bowl LV with, but his drop off in production capped what could have been one of the greatest careers of all time.
A sixth-round pick (No. 195 overall) in the 2010 NFL Draft, Brown was a four-time first-team All-Pro, seven-time Pro Bowler, two-time NFL receptions leader and two-time NFL receiving yards leader.
