A former defensive lineman of the Pittsburgh Steelers thinks the team should have went quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft.
It’s no secret the Pittsburgh Steelers are gearing up to select their next franchise quarterback in the 2026 NFL Draft. However, one former Steeler believes the team could already have its future franchise signal caller on its roster.
Former defensive lineman Breiden Fehoko thinks Pittsburgh will regret its decision to pass on now New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart with the No. 21 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
“I really think the Steelers should’ve took Jaxson Dart at 21 even knowing Aaron was still coming,” Fehoko posted on X. “It would’ve been huge to let him learn under a HOF Qb for a year.”

Dart was selected by the Giants just four picks later at No. 25 overall and he has quickly shown he was deserving of the selection.
Since taking over as New York’s starter in Week 4, Dart has thrown for 1,417 yards, 10 touchdowns and three interceptions. He has also added 317 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground.
That’s the exact type of play the Steelers wish they had at quarterback following one of Aaron Rodgers’ worst performances of his career against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 10.
The 41-year-old completed just 16 of his 31 passes for 161 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in Pittsburgh’s 25-10 loss, and many are beginning to question how much good football he has left in him.
Only time will answer that question, but the Steelers could very well look back at their 2025 NFL Draft class and wish they could swap Dart for defensive tackle Derrick Harmon.
That isn’t to say Harmon was a bad pick. In fact, he has played quite well since returning from his preseason injury, recording 17 tackles, two sacks, one fumble recovery and one pass defensed in seven games.
However, there’s no arguing quarterback is the most important position in the NFL, and Dart looks like the real deal, at least so far.
