Waldron worked under Pete Carroll for three seasons as Seattle’s offensive coordinator from 2021-2023.

Another former Seattle Seahawks assistant has landed elsewhere.

On Thursday, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that the Jacksonville Jaguars will be hiring former Seahawks offensive coordinator Shane Waldron as their passing game coordinator. Waldron was the final OC of the Pete Carroll era, serving as Seattle’s offensive play-caller from 2021-2023.

Most recently, Waldron was the Chicago Bears’ OC in 2024 before being fired nine games into the season. After a 4-2 start in which the Bears scored at least 24 points four times, Chicago was limited to just 27 points across their next three games combined, including three points against the New England Patriots in Week 10.

Now, Waldron will be the Jaguars’ PGC, serving under new head coach Liam Coen and OC Grant Udinski; Udinski was one of a handful of candidates to interview with the Seahawks twice before Seattle hired Klint Kubiak as OC.

While Waldron and Udinski have not served on the same coaching staff before, Waldron and Coen have. From 2018-2020, Waldron and Coen worked under Sean McVay as offensive assistants for the Los Angeles Rams; Waldron was the Rams’ PGC, while Coen was an assistant wide receivers coach and then an assistant quarterbacks coach.

The Seahawks will face the AFC South in 2025, which includes a trip to Jacksonville during the season. Waldron had already been fired before Seattle came to Chicago in 2024, making this the Seahawks’ first matchup against Waldron since he first left Seattle after 2023.
