Former Raiders QB Derek Carr hopes Mendoza breaks all his records

The Las Vegas Raiders drafted a new quarterback in 2026 by selecting Fernando Mendoza as the number one pick. He was the highest drafted quarterback for the franchise since they took Derek Carr in 2014 in the second round.

Carr played for the Raiders for nine seasons, helping lead them to two playoff appearances during his tenure. While it didn’t lead to many playoff wins, it was still the first time the organization had stability at the position since Rich Gannon. Now with Mendoza looking to take the reins as the next franchise QB, Raider Nation is hoping for the former Heisman Trophy to leave even more lasting memories.

Carr was attending a golf charity event this weekend and was asked about his thoughts on Mendoza taking over the franchise. He hopes the young quarterback can break all his franchise records as the Raiders’ signal-caller.

Raider Nation is hoping for the same results for Mendoza, who comes in the pedigree of winning after securing the national championship in 2026.
