The New York Giants let go of head coach Brian Daboll on Monday, sparking speculation that former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick might be a candidate for the position.

During a recent appearance on WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show,” former Patriots safety Devin McCourty addressed a question from the hosts about the Giants. They asked him whether he would hire Bill Belichick if he were in charge of the team.

“I would have Belichick in,” McCourty said on Thursday. “I thought the craziest thing was that when he was free as a coach before is teams didn’t meet with him, I would definitely have him in.”

Belichick hasn’t coached in the NFL since 2023 and is currently coaching his first season at North Carolina. However, the Tar Heels aren’t off to the best start with a 4-5 record. If Belichick is looking to return to the NFL, then being the Giants’ head coach makes sense.

First off, the Giants would need to have interest in him, and if they do, Belichick could turn around a young New York roster.

The Giants may have found a franchise quarterback in rookie Jaxson Dart, along with plenty of talented players surrounding him on both sides of the ball. What New York needs now is an experienced coach who knows how to finish games, and Belichick has certainly proven himself in that regard throughout his coaching career.
