The Patriots remained quiet during the NFL trade deadline, making no significant moves. Former New England linebacker Rob Ninkovich feels that he put in more effort to acquire players than his old team did.

“I think I did more work at the deadline than the Patriots did,” Ninkovich said on Wednesday during the “Greg Hill Show”.

Ninkovich revealed that he reached out to two NFL pass rushers in hopes of bringing them to the Patriots. Last week, he mentioned that he messaged Cleveland Browns standout Myles Garrett after Garrett showcased his skills by totaling five sacks against New England in Week 8. Additionally, Ninkovich noted that he also sent a message to Cincinnati Bengals pass rusher Trey Hendrickson.

The Browns made it clear that they had no intention of trading Garrett, leaving the Patriots with no opportunity to acquire him. On the other hand, Hendrickson, who is in the final year of his contract, could’ve been on the move.

The Bengals decided to keep Hendrickson, indicating that the Patriots weren’t the only team that missed the opportunity to trade for him.

It was surprising that the Patriots didn’t try to add significant talent at the deadline, given they are currently sitting at the top of the AFC East with a 7-2 record.
