The New England Patriots have a lot of competition on their roster at training camp, which hasn’t necessarily always been the case in recent seasons. As it turns out, one guy who didn’t find a way to stick around with the current iteration of this team, safety Joshuah Bledsoe, has reportedly found a new home.
Bledsoe was selected in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft by New England. He ended up missing the majority of his rookie season due to injuries before eventually making his NFL debut in 2022.
Overall, Bledsoe played in just four games with the Patriots, racking up one tackle during his limited time with the team. Primarily a depth option who was used occasionally on special teams, Bledsoe failed to find a way to crack the team’s safety rotation.
After getting released in August of last year, Bledsoe signed with the San Antonio Brahmas of the United Football League before signing a futures contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Bledsoe got released by the Steelers back in June, but he has now found his way to the Tennessee Titans, according to recent reports.
“Former Patriots and Steelers safety Joshuah Bledsoe is signing with the Titans, per source,” Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reported. “Tennessee adding depth to its secondary.”
The Titans are pretty well-stocked at safety, with Amani Hooker and Xavier Woods being their starting duo, so Bledsoe’s best shot of sticking in town will likely be on the practice squad.
Should Bledsoe flame out with Tennessee, New England’s front office could check in on him, but they are also pretty deep at the safety position, with Kyle Dugger and Jabrill Peppers leading the way at this spot.
The Patriots are continuing their training camp action with practice on Tuesday morning, and while the team is primarily concerned with their own players, they likely will keep an eye on Bledsoe to see how he fares with his new team.
