New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is having an outstanding start to the season. Although he occasionally finds himself in tricky situations, he responds quickly and bounces back effectively.
Former Patriots quarterback Brian Hoyer has been impressed by the confidence Maye has shown this season.
“It’s just amazing to me how he weathers the storm and just has that internal confidence,” Hoyer said on Tuesday during “WEEI Afternoons”. “That’s when the folklore of a player starts to grow.”
Maye has passed for 3,130 yards and thrown 21 touchdowns against just six interceptions this season. However, what stands out most about this young quarterback is his ability to lead the Patriots to victory.
New England is on a nine-game winning streak and has a 10-2 record, the best in the AFC.
Maye has demonstrated his ability to manage the ups and downs of an NFL regular season, but this winter, he will need to prove that he can step up and compete fiercely in the postseason.
It feels like each time Maye steps onto the field, he gets better at something, and it will be interesting to see what he does in the Patriots’ next contest against the New York Giants on “Monday Night Football”.
