The NFL trade deadline is on Tuesday, and former Patriots linebacker Rob Ninkovich is doing his part to get players to New England.

Browns pass rusher Myles Garrett racked up an impressive five sacks against New England on Sunday, but Cleveland still lost, 32-13. Ninkovich recently tried to entice Garrett to join the Patriots.

“How about we go and get a guy who just had five sacks against us,” Ninkovich said on Wednesday during WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show”. “I slid into his DMs and said to him, “Get to New England, brother, and help this place get back to the championship.”

Ninkovich noted that Garrett has yet to read his message.

However, Garrett signed a four-year, $160 million extension this offseason and has a no-trade clause in his contract.

If Garrett wants to be traded before the deadline, the Browns must be willing to let him go, which seems unlikely. Trading Garrett during the season would result in a dead cap hit of $68 million for the 2026 season.

Even if the Patriots can’t land Garrett, they should still try to acquire a pass rusher to ensure they can get after the quarterback in meaningful games down the stretch.
