The right has locked on to their latest culture war as they’re currently up in arms over the presence of a male cheerleader on the Minnesota Vikings cheer team. Former NFL wide receiver Torrey Smith chimed in on Twitter to put those people in their place.

Male cheerleaders are nothing new. What is new, however, is an online echo-chamber ecosystem of rage-baiting that’s seen the right perpetuate arguments about Sydney Sweeney, and now, the Minnesota Vikings cheerleading squad, which will boast male dancers Blaize Shiek and Louie Conn on its roster this year.

Videos of Shiek have gone particularly viral, with certainly popular right wing accounts claiming they have to find a new team to root for because of it.

Smith, the 36 year old former Ravens, 49ers, Eagles, and Panthers wide receiver, got wind of some of those complaints and put those people in their place.

“I started a youth football program in West Baltimore a few months ago. It’s been extremely time consuming and EXPENSIVE! We added cheer and I was asked if I would have a problem with a boy cheering,” Smith shared on Twitter.

“‘If he wants to cheer, let him cheer’ Zero Bullying will be allowed!”
